Hi, I'm Kelvin. I like software that holds up under pressure.

I'm a senior software developer at Detechtion.AI, based in Calgary, where I lead front-end development for our fleet-monitoring web app. I started there as a co-op student in 2018 while studying computer science (software engineering) at the University of Calgary, and came back in 2022. Across those two stints I've worked on the web apps that engineers use to watch a fleet, the analytics platform that turns field data into decisions, the mobile app a technician checks on the way to a site and the sign-in portal in front of the web apps. In between, I spent almost a year at Noralta Technologies Inc. building Angular apps and live video streaming for on-site cameras.

Industrial software has an unusual audience. The person reading a gauge may be deciding whether to drive two hours to a compressor station, so a UI that says “normal” when it means “no data” isn't a cosmetic bug. That's shaped how I work: I care about dense screens that stay calm, about states that tell the truth and about proving changes are safe instead of hoping they are.

Most of my work is front end, in React, TypeScript and React Native, but I'm comfortable down the stack in C#/.NET and SQL Server when a feature needs it. Lately a lot of my time goes to design systems: migrating products onto semantic tokens, auditing contrast and making themes switch without a flicker.

I use AI coding agents heavily and deliberately. They're fast at building tools and trying hypotheses. I set the acceptance criteria, decide what counts as proof, review every change and own what ships. The case studies say which parts an agent did.
